NEWEST GALLERY!: C0NDU1T

NEWEST GALLERY!: "C0NDU1T"
On July 29th 2007, I had the honour and priviledge to photograph a rock band from Burlington, Ontario, called C0NDU1T. The band members, Brian Hogue, James Miles, Rick Corvese, Rob Nantais, and Dave Green had met local film director Pete Mander and I at Kre9-Fx studios in St.Catharines, for an "Industrial Shoot". The shoot was absolutely fantastic, as we were using a movie set that was created for a previous film that Pete had worked on. Pete is about to tear down the set this week, for an upcoming production called "GAMEZ", in which C0NDU1T will be performing for and providing songs for the soundtrack. This would be my first professional still photography shoot for the production of GAMEZ, and what a successful introduction it was.And so..I bring you: "C0NDU1T"

Sunset over Charles Daly

On the evening of May 24, 2007, a friend of mine and I decided to drive over to Charles Day Park, near Jordan Ontario, to take in a possible lovely sunset across the waters of Lake Ontario.

Charles Daly Park is a lovely little recreation park, located along North Service Road and the QEW, as you go into Jordan Ontario.

As we walked along the boardwalk and stony beach, we enjoyed these lovely views below of an amazing Lake Ontario sunset:

"RECONNECTING FORT GEORGE"

On the First Day of Spring 2007, I decided to take a drive over to Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
Fort George National Historical Site of Canada, is one tourist attraction that always seems to leave a footprint into time upon every visit. The fort, which first started to be constucted in the late 1700’s by the British army, was later destroyed during the War of 1812 by the American forces.
Following the War of 1812, the Fort and much of the land surrounding the mouth to the Niagara River was used by the British and Canadian military. In the late 1930’s, during the Depression years, Fort George provided employment to those wishing to help to restore the fort to it’s original state. It has since become a National Historic Site of Canada.

Dufferin Islands: Spring in the Making

It was such a gorgeous day on Sunday March 18th, that I took a drive over to Dufferin Islands in Niagara Falls to capture "Spring in the making". Being that I was in town visiting my parents, I took advantage of the lovely day to do as such.Dufferin Islands, is a series of small "islands" joined by picturesque bridges and waterways, located just above the Horseshoe Falls at Niagara.

The park is widely used year-round, and is a prime spot for a picnic, or an afternoon to get away into nature, or for animal and bird watchers.

To visit Dufferin Islands yourself, please see it's main website at: http://www.niagaraparks.com/nature/dufferin.php

I had an hour to kill, as I followed the crooked pathways, crossed the boardwalk bridges, watched mallards play in the icy waters, and captured some of the essence of "Spring in the Making".

What magical moments from a magical place! To view my Gallery of Photos from the shoot, click the snowman below:

Historical: "Johansson's Bar"

I was attempting to catch a few extra winks of sleep yesterday morning when I had received a call from the St.Catharines Standard, asking for information on a local landmark called "Johansson's Bar". This was definitely worth waking up for!

The paper had seen my blog post from the end of September 2006, where I had a "Feature Hike" writeup on the "North and South Canal Loops. A friend of mine and I had hiked the entirety of the Merritt Trail, and I had completed a writeup as well as posted a good series of photos on my blog. You can view this entry at: http://wellerphoto.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Johansson's Bar is a long-forgotten about historic relic, turned in to small monument, and is located just off of Glendale Avenue, beside the Merritt Trail, and the old walls to the historic Second Welland Canal. Locals have vandalized the old monument by bringing along their spray paints and dabbling in a little bit of contemporary destructive art.

The Bar was used in the 1800's as a key tool in placing the limestone blocks that made up the walls of the historic Welland Canal. It now sits atop of a limestone block, hidden away, where many do not even know it is there.

To view the article written by Matthew Van Dongen at the St.Catharines Standard, you can do so online at:

Thanks to the St.Catharines Standard and to Matthew Van Dongen for the resource call, as well as for the awesome writeup of this historic relic!
